I've checked out the MD state laws for making and selling goods. But, if anyone has any other personal business advice, I'd appreciate any help I can get. At some point, LLC will be a good idea but, I think I'll wait and see what kind of selling scale I'm working with. After all, I'll need to be able to pay for the license.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in purchasing or custom ordering from me - please have them email me at rhondafeist@hotmail.com. I have just around 200 colors to choose from and the combinations are endless. I won't hide the fact that the work isn't sold for Walmart prices however, I charge considerably less than other sources.
Very pretty!! I'm trying a homemade Moby Wrap this time.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind the new law that goes into effect Feb. 10 that requires testing for lead and phthalates all products that are marketed for use by children under age 12. There are A LOT of work-at-home moms who will no longer be able to make and sell baby products because of the law. It really stinks. It's also really confusing, and nobody seems to know for sure what the law entails or how it'll be reinforced.
Megan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads-up, I'll look up the new law. Thankfully, the sling rings are already made for use as sling rings for babies and will be tested. I'll look into the fabric to see if there are any tests on it. But, being silk, there wouldn't be lead or phthalates in it. Still, I suppose it would have to be tested, at least by my source.
I'll look into it - thanks.
I think the general consensus is that natural fabrics, like hemp and cotton and probably silk, are excluded, but I don't know if that means undyed and unbleached or what. It's sooooo confusing!
